The economy of Camiguin posted a growth of 4.8 percent in 2021, a rebound from -11.4 percent decline in the previous year. In 2021, the Gross Provincial Domestic Product (GPDP) of Camiguin is valued at PhP10.3 billion from the 2020 level of PhP9.8 billion. However, the GPDP level in 2021 is still lower than the 2019 pre-pandemic level valued at PhP11.1 billion.

Inflation Rate in Camiguin Slowed Down to 7.8%

The annual inflation rate in Camiguin eased to 7.8 percent in August 2022, after recording successive increases for five consecutive months starting March 2022. Bringing the year-to-date inflation rate of the province to 5.7 percent. The recorded rate, however, is 3.7 percentage points higher than the registered rate of 4.1 percent in August 2021. (See Figure 1)

Philippine Statistics Authority – Camiguin issued a total of 2,266 birth certificates, 409 marriage certificates, 133 death certificates and 233 CENOMAR for the period January to June 2022. Of the total number of issued civil registry documents in security paper, 75.0 percent are issued birth certificates, 13.0 percent  marriage certificate, 8.0 percent  CENOMAR and 4.0 percent  death certificates. (See Figure 1)

Inflation Rate in Camiguin Continued to Rise at 8.1%
 
The annual inflation rate of Camiguin further accelerated to 8.1 percent in July 2022, sustaining the uptrend behavior registered starting February 2022. The posted rate is 1.7 percentage points higher than the posted rate of 6.4 percent in June 2022. Moreover, this posted rate more than doubled the registered rate of 3.6 percent in July 2021. (See Figure 1)

Inflation Rate in Camiguin Accelerated Further at 6.4%
 
The sustained uptrend behavior of the annual inflation rate was observed in the province of Camiguin as the June 2022 figure registered a 6.4 percent increase. It accelerated by              1.1 percentage points compared with the posted rate of 5.3 percent in May 2022. Further, it is much higher by 1.7 percentage points compared with the annual inflation rate registered in June 2021. (See Figure 1)
