2020 CPH Advisory

Complying with the Government’s directives to put a stop to the spread of CoVid-19, the conduct of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), which is originally scheduled    to    start    officially   on       04 May 2020,    will   be   delayed   until   after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte finally lifts the Enhanced Community Quarantine.  Another advisory will thereafter be issued accordingly.

Highlights of the Consumer Price Index in Northern Mindanao for the Month of February 2020 (2012=100)

The price of a basket of goods in February 2020 in Northern Mindanao is higher than its prices in 2012 by 26.9 percent..

Figure 1 shows the year-on-year Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Northern Mindanao for the period of January 2019 and 2020 and February 2019 and 2020. February 2020 CPI recorded at 126.9. This implies that the price of goods in February 2020 was 26.9 percent higher than the price of goods in 2012.

 

Highlights of the Consumer Price Index in Northern Mindanao for the Month of January 2020 (2012=100)

The Consumer Price Index in Northern Mindanao for the month of January posted at 126.6 which imply that the price of one basket of goods was 26.6 higher than the price of goods in year 2012. Consumer Price Index (CPI) is used as an indicator to measure the changes in the average retail prices of one basket of goods and services that commonly purchased by a particular group of people. Figure 1 shows the Consumer Price Index in the region for the period of January 2019 & 2020 with 2012 as the base year.

17 out of 100 Families in Region X are Poor in 2018

In 2018, the proportion of families whose income falls below the poverty threshold (poverty incidence among families) in the region was estimated at 17.2 percent. This is significantly lower by 14.8 percentage points from the recorded poverty incidence in 2015 at 32.0 percent. The 2018 poverty incidence of 17.2 percent translates to around 193 thousand poor families in the region.
