Misamis Occidental economy grew by 6.7 percent in 2023 from its 2022 level, equivalent to an increase of around PhP 7.94 billion to the province’s total Gross Domestic Product (GDP), from PhP 119.37 billion in 2022 to PhP 127.31 billion in 2023. The increase was mainly driven by Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles which expanded by 7.0 percent and contributed 3.7 percentage points to the province’s growth.
Among the 16 industries, the fastest growths were observed in Transportation and storage with 63.5 percent, followed by Construction with 14.9 percent, and Accommodation and food service activities with 14.7 percent. On the other hand, Mining and quarrying and Agriculture, forestry, and fishing experienced contractions with 2.7 percent and 6.6 percent, respectively. (Figure 1)

In Region 10, Misamis Occidental was the fourth largest economy contributing 12.9 percent of the Gross Regional Domestic Product estimated at PhP 127.31 billion in 2023. Cagayan de Oro City had the largest share with 28.1 percent. (Figure 2)
