Pursuant to RA 10625 also known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, E0 352 and RA 11315, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) shall spearhead the conduct of the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS).
The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS is a simultaneous conduct of two major statistical activities to ensure a cost-efficient implementation designed to update the information on the population and improve the social registry of the country. The simultaneous conduct specifically aims to:
- Update the inventory of the total population in all barangays, cities/municipalities, provinces, and regions in the country;
- Update the list of beneficiaries of government social protection programs thereby reducing leakages;
- Update the distribution of shares of Local Government Units in the National Tax Allocation;
- Aid in the implementation of the recently signed Republic Act (RA) No. 11964 or the “Automatic Income Classification of Local Government Units Act”;
- Aid in the efficient use of government resources.

PSA-X has equipped more than 4,000 field personnel with the POPCEN-CBMS concepts and on the proper manner of carrying out data collection activities such as geotagging, listing of buildings, and interviewing households through the use of tablet. The activity will be conducted from July 15 to September 16, 2024 and the result of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS (Listing Record and Profiling of Household and Institutional Population) is targeted to be released by the first quarter of 2025.
The PSA X encourages the public to take part and support this undertaking by providing truthful and accurate information. The office assures that the data gathered from the respondents will be treated with utmost confidentiality in compliance with Section 26 of RA 10625 and RA 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2022).
