AWRS employs quota sampling design. The statistical unit is the household that hired farm workers during the reference period. There are a total of 165 identified respondents of the survey and around 14 Hired Statistical Researchers will be deployed across the region to conduct the interviews.

The Agricultural Wage Rate Survey (AWRS) is one of the regular surveys conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority. Data collection for palay and corn is conducted semi-annually in the months of January and July. The results are consolidated on an annual basis. The surveys for coconut and sugarcane are done annually in the month of January.

The AWRS aims to generate estimates of average wage rates of agricultural farm workers, especially for the four (4) major crops: Palay, Corn, Coconut and Sugarcane. This is also to establish basis for computing the average wage rate in agriculture. Statistics on wage rates are useful inputs in investment decisions, policy making and program formulation related to the agriculture sector.

The PSA appeals to the public to cooperate and support the conduct of this survey. The office also assures that all information gathered will be held strictly confidential and shall not be used as evidence in court for purposes of taxation, regulation or investigation as provided for in RA 10625. Data generated from this survey will be disseminated in statistical summaries without reference to any individual person or household.
