Data on marriages presented in this release were obtained from the Certificate of Marriage or Municipal Form No. 97 that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars all throughout the country and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority. Information presented includes registered marriages which occurred from January to December 2010-2020.
Decreasing number of Marriages in Northern Mindanao
In 2020, Northern Mindanao recorded a total of 13,655 marriages. This number is 34.3 percent lower compared to the registered marriages in 2019 at 20,790 marriages. This is the biggest percent change of registered marriages in the region over the decade (Figure 1 and Table 1).

Most number of couples married in February
Most number of marriages in 2020 occurred in the month of February with 2,363 (17.3%) marriages followed by December with 1,851 (13.6%) marriages and January with 1,778 (13.0%) marriages. On the other hand, the least number of marriages was recorded in April with 67 or 0.5 percent of the region`s total number of marriages (Table 2).
Highest occurrence of marriages recorded in Bukidnon
Among the provinces and highly urbanized cities in the region, Bukidnon recorded the highest number of marriages at 5,375 marriages or 39.4 percent, followed by Misamis Oriental at 2,226 marriages or 16.3 percent of the total marriages (Figure 2).
The province of Camiguin recorded the least number of 245 marriages in 2020 that is lower by 35.7 percent than the 381 marriages recorded in 2019.

Most men and women married between ages 25-29 years old
Male marry at an older age compared to women. The reported median age for men is 29 years old while that for women is 27 years old. The median ages were the same as in the previous year (Figure 3).

Most men married at ages 25 to 29 years old, which accounted for 38.4 percent of the total number of grooms in the region. Most women also married at 25 to 29 years old or 37.7 percent of the total number of brides (Figure 4 and Table 3).
It can be noted that most female married at younger age compared to male.
It was also observed that the number of brides under 20 years old (906) was almost five times more than the number of grooms of the same age group.
