PSA 10 Conducts the January 2022 Labor Force Survey and 2021 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (Second Visit)

The Philippine Statistics Authority 10 announces the conduct of January 2022 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and second visit of the 2021 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) from 10 to 31 January 2022.
The LFS is a nationwide survey of households conducted quarterly by PSA and gathers data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.
The FIES, on the other hand, is a nationwide survey of households conducted every three years in two separate visits. The first visit for the 2021 FIES was conducted in July 2021 with January to June 2021 as reference period. The reference period for the second visit is July to December 2021. The 2021 FIES aims to:
a. gather data on family income and family living expenditure and related information
affecting income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines;
b. determine the sources of income and income distribution, levels of living and
spending patterns, and the degree of inequality among families;
c. provide benchmark information to update weights in the estimation of Consumer
Price lndex (CPl); and
d. provide inputs in the estimation of the country's poverty threshold and incidence.
A total of 10,352 sample households will be visited and interviewed by authorized 367 Statistical Researchers or field enumerators all over the Region 10. The interview will be conducted using tablets through a Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application.
In line with this, the PSA 10 enjoins everyone in the region, especially the selected sample households, to support the said surveys by providing the required information. All data collected will be kept strictly confidential in compliance with Republic Act 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) and Section 26 of Republic Act 10625.
