Misamis Oriental

The inflation rate of Province of Misamis Oriental is at 8.2 percent for the month of November 2022. Compared to the same month in year 2021, year-on-year inflation has more than doubled, and a percent change of 7.6 percent in the previous month was observed in the province’s inflation rate. (Table A and Figure 1)

Inflation rate by commodity group for all income household of the province was shown in the table below (Table B). The highest inflation rate of commodity that affected the province’s inflation rate in November 2022 was Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages with 11.8 percent, followed by Transport with 8.0 percent, then Personal Care, And Miscellaneous Goods and Services with 6.9 percent. Other commodities such as Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco; Restaurants and Accommodation Services; Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance also contributed to the province’s inflation rate with 5.9 percent, 5.6 percent, 5.3 percent and 4.5 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, compared to previous month’s inflation rate, percent change for Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels decreased by -18.1 percent, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance by -4.3 percent, Health by -8.7 percent and Transport by -33.3 percent respectively. The Education Services and Financial Services commodity group showed non-movement on its inflation rate. (Table B)

Cagayan de Oro City

Cagayan de Oro City, a highly urbanized city of the province recorded its highest inflation rate of the year at 8.0 percent on November 2022 garnering a percent change of 6.7 percent compared to the previous month. On the other hand, an increase in the year-on-year inflation was more than doubled. (Table A and Figure 2)

The increase of the inflation was primarily influenced by three commodity groups which have higher annual increase in the index namely; Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 11.1 percent compared to 8.0 percent on the previous month with 3.1 percentage point; Restaurant and Accommodation Services at 10.3 percent with 0.5 percentage point and Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance at 5.0 percent with 0.1 percentage point compared to the previous month.

However, annual increase slowed down in the indices of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 4.2 percent, Clothing and Footwear at 1.9 percent Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuels at 6.8 percent, Health at 2.8 percent, Transport at 10.3 percent, Recreation, Sport and Culture at 1.2 percent and Personal Care, Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 5.0 percent. The Information and Communication, Education Services and Financial Services commodity group retained its previous month’s inflation rate. (Table C)
