The Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) that is conducted every 10 years, is a large-scale government undertaking geared towards the collection and compilation of basic information on the agricultural and fishery sectors in the country. The 2022 CAF with the reference period starting January 01, 2022 to December 31, 2022, is the seventh in the series of decennial agricultural census and sixth in the decennial census of fisheries in the country since 1903. The Philippine Statistics Authority who spearheads this undertaking starts the conduct of the 2022 CAF Household and Barangay Interviews operation on 04 September 2023 and targets to complete the enumeration by 25 October 2023. This comprehensive census seeks to determine the structural characteristics of agricultural and fisheries sectors, provide insights into various crop farming, livestock, poultry, culturing of worms and insects, and fishing operations, and collect information on the available facilities and services in the barangays. The 2022 CAF would provide the government planners, policy makers, and administrators with agriculture and fisheries data on which to base their social and economic development plans, policies, and programs which are pivotal for the country’s development.
The 2022 CAF Household and Barangay Interviews operation covers a total of 1,003 sample barangays throughout Region X with a total of 1,637 hired census personnel of which 1,509 are involved in the field enumeration. The field personnel were carefully trained on the concepts and administration of questionnaires, field operation guidelines, and the use of android tablets in the data collection to ensure the quality of data that will be collected.
The PSA is asking for the support of the public for the successful conduct of the survey. The office also assures the respondents that the data which will be collected by the enumerators will be held strictly confidential. Observance of the minimum health protocols will be strictly followed during the conduct of the survey.
