Ms. Anne Jane Duhaylungsod of RMN DXCC 828 wins the first ever PSA-X Official Statistics Quiz Show for Media Practitioners conducted in line with the celebration of the 34^th National Statistics Month (NSM), held at Deluxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City on 25 October 2023.

Ms. Duhaylungsod recorded a total score of 22 out of 30 points, gaining the top rank. Followed by Mr. Franck Dick Rosete of Manila Bulletin with 20 points and Mr. Noel B. Registos of Brigada News with 19 points. The top three winners received a plaque of recognition and prize tokens awarded during the Regional Closing Ceremony of the 34th NSM which was held on 27 October at The VIP Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

The quiz show was part of the Data Appreciation Seminar for Media Practitioners with the objective to impart knowledge on the definitions of statistical operations and official statistics of Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Four statistical operations were presented and discussed namely: Labor Force Survey, Provincial Product Accounts, Prices Survey, and National Demographic and Health Survey. Questions and clarifications regarding the topics were entertained during the open forum

Ms. Sarah B. Balagbis, Chief Statistical Specialist during her welcome remarks expressed her gratitude to the media for the continued support to the activities of PSA in broadcasting information not just in statistical operations but to all services of the office. The media, being responsible for gathering and disseminating information, have the duty to deliver accurate and truthful information, and acceptable language to keep the public informed and updated, she added.

Nine (9) media personnel attended the seminar and quiz bee namely; Mr. Noel Registos of Brigada News, Mr. Franck Dick Rosete of Manila Bulletin, Ms. Menzie Montes of RMN DXCC 828, Ms. Khaye Buscaino of IFM CDO-RMN, Ms. Anne Jane Duhaylungsod of RMN DXCC 828, Mr. Sean Sulugan of Brigada News, Mr. Requim Sulita of Radyo Bandera, Mr. Brian Abad of Radyo Bandera, and Mr. Roy Cubelo of DXCO.

The activity contributed to the advocacy in the use of statistics for evidence-based decision making and familiarization on the other mandates of the PSA.
