Misamis Oriental
The headline inflation of Province of Misamis Oriental has increased to 8.5 percent in December 2022, from 8.2 percent in the previous month. The inflation rate in December 2021 was lower at 3.8 percent. (Table A and Figure 1)
Contributing to the increased inflation was mainly due to the following commodities to the year-on-year annual growth for Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 13.0 percent; Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 7.2 percent; Recreation, Sports and Culture at 3.0 percent.
Meanwhile, the indices with the slowed down annual increase were observed in Transport at 6.7 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 4.9 percent; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 4.4 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance at 4.3 percent; Clothing and Footwear at 3.9 percent; Health at 3.9 percent. The rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month’s inflation rates. (Table B)
Cagayan de Oro City
Similar to the trend at the province level the headline inflation of Cagayan de Oro City, a highly urbanized city, increased further to 8.2 percent in December 2022, from 8.0 percent in the previous month. The inflation rate in December 2021 was lower at 3.9 percent.(Table A and Figure 2)
Contributing to the increased inflation was mainly due to the following commodities to the year-on-year annual growth for Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 12.6 percent; Restaurants And Accommodation Services at 10.9 percent; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 5.6 percent; Personal Care, And Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 5.2 percent; Clothing And Footwear at 2.1 percent; Information And Communication at 0.4 percent; Recreation, Sport and Culture at 1.5 percent.
However, annual increase slowed down in the indices of Transport at 9.9 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 5.8 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance at 3.5 percent; Health and Education Services at 2.4 percent. The financial Services retained its previous month’s inflation rates. (Table C)
