Misamis Oriental
The inflation rate of Province of Misamis Oriental is at 7.6 percent for the month of October 2022. Compared to the same month in year 2021, year-on-year inflation has more than doubled, and a percent change of 5.56 percent in the previous month was observed in the province’s inflation rate. (Table A and Figure 1)
Inflation rate by commodity group for all income household of the province was shown in the table below (Table B). The highest inflation rate of commodity that affected the province’s inflation rate in September 2022 was Transport with 12.0 percent, followed by Food and Non-alcoholic beverages with 9.4 percent, then Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 7.2 percent. Other commodities such as Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco; Personal Care, And Miscellaneous Goods and Services; Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance; and Health also contributed to the province’s inflation rate with 5.4 percent, 5.3 percent, 4.6 percent and 3.8 percent respectively.
Meanwhile, compared to previous month’s inflation rate, indices for Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels and Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance decreased with percent changes of – 7.2 percent and – 4.7 percent respectively. The Financial Services and Educational commodity group showed a non-movement on its inflation rate. (Table B)
Cagayan de Oro City
Cagayan de Oro City, a highly urbanized city of the province recorded its inflation rate were move at a slower rate of 7.5 percent in October 2022 from 7.7 in September 2022. On the other hand, an increase in the year-on-year inflation was more than doubled. (Table A and Figure 2)
The three commodity groups which have higher annual increase in the index namely; Transport at 13.3 percent compared on the previous month with 15.3 percentage point; Restaurants and Accommodation Services compared on the previous month still the same percentage at 9.8 percent and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 8.0 percent with equivalent 2.57 percentage point compared to the previous month.
However, decrease in the indices of Clothing and Footwear at 2.1 percent; Information And Communication at 0.3 percent; Recreation, Sport and Culture at 1.4 percent; Recreation, Sport and Culture at 1.5 percent; The Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco has a decreased in its inflation compared to the previous month, While Financial Services commodity group retained it’s previous month’s inflation rate.
