The Philippine Statistics Authority 10 announces the conduct of July 2023 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and first visit of the 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) from 08 to 31 July 2023.

The LFS is a comprehensive survey conducted monthly and quarterly, that measures the country's current labor market and is used, among other things, to calculate national and provincial employment and unemployment rates. This LFS round will be used to quantify the continuing effect of the pandemic crisis on labor and employment in the country.

The FIES is a survey on family income and expenditure of households undertaken by the PSA across the country. It is the main source of data on family income and expenditure in the Philippines. The 2023 FIES Visit 1 is a rider survey to the July 2023 LFS which will cover data for the period 01 January to 30 June 2023. The 2023 FIES aims to:
a. gather data on family income and family living expenditure and related information
    affecting income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines;
b. determine the sources of income and income distribution, levels of living and
   spending patterns, and the degree of inequality among families;
c. provide benchmark information to update weights in the estimation of Consumer
   Price lndex (CPl); and
d. provide inputs in the estimation of the country's poverty threshold and incidence.

A total of 10,033 sample households will be visited and interviewed by authorized 408 Statistical Researchers or field enumerators all over Region 10. The interview will be conducted using tablets through a Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application.

In line with this, the PSA 10 enjoins everyone in the region, especially the selected sample households, to support the said surveys by providing the required information.  All data collected will be kept strictly confidential in compliance with Republic Act 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) and Section 26 of Republic Act 10625.
