EL SALVADOR CITY, MISAMIS ORIENTAL - The Misamis Oriental Provincial Statistical Office organized the Data Turnover Ceremony for the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data Files on January 12, 2024, hosted at the Conference Room of El Salvador City Hall.

Distinguished heads of the LGU El Salvador City, led by the esteemed Mayor Edgar S. Lignes, graced the occasion. In attendance were representatives from the PSA Regional Statistical Services Office X and Misamis Oriental Provincial Statistical Office CBMS teams, led by the Regional Director, Dr. Janith C. Aves, and Chief Statistical Specialist Maria Liza M. Bigornia, respectively. The event also witnessed the participation of delegates from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and Misamis Oriental Provincial LGU.

The ceremony commenced with a welcome address from the City Planning and Development Coordinator, Ms. Maria Rejie E. Obsioma-Lucero, highlighting the pivotal role of CBMS Data in the City Government’s planning and program implementation.

During the activity, Senior Statistical Specialist and CBMS Provincial Focal Person, Mr. Jerwin A. Asiñero, presented the highlights of the 2022 CBMS results. Notably, the city's safety perception received a commendable rating of 96.33%, eliciting satisfaction among attendees and reflecting a positive outcome because the findings is aligned with one of the LGU’s objectives. The symbolic representation of the ceremony was handed to the LGU El Salvador City then followed by an acceptance message delivered by Honorable Mayor Lignes.

The CBMS is an organized technology-based system of collecting, processing and validating necessary disaggregated data at the local level while empowering communities to participate in the process. These data may be used as a basis for targeting Philippine households in the planning, budgeting, and implementation of government programs geared towards poverty alleviation and economic development. The 2022 CBMS Rollout in El Salvador City involved the deployment of eighty-four (84) field personnel, comprising of sixty-six (66) enumerators, fourteen (14) team supervisors, three (3) CBMS area supervisors, and one (1) head CBMS area supervisor, dedicated to collect timely, accurate, and relevant CBMS data.

The ceremony concluded with a message from Ms. Maria Liza M. Bigornia, reiterating the significance of CBMS Data and emphasizing its responsible utilization, in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012. She expressed optimism that the data will be of great help to the LGU in its commitment to enhance the quality of life for the city's citizenry.
