The Philippine Statistics Authority, in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), conducts the 2023 Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS) commencing on 17 June 2024 until 19 July 2024. The 2023 HECS is the fifth in the HECS series which started in 1989.

The 2023 HECS aims to provide a much-needed update on household energy consumption after the last conduct of HECS in 2011. It particularly collects data about household energy related practices, awareness, and attitudes. Results of the 2023 HECS will be used as inputs in the formulation and implementation of the energy plans, policies, programs, and relevant energy research.

For Northern Mindanao, the 2023 HECS covers a total of 2,669 sample households to be interviewed by seven (7) team supervisors and twenty-six (26) statistical researchers for the households and selected barangays. The field personnel were carefully trained on the concepts and administration of questionnaires through computer-aided personal interviewing (CAPI), field operation guidelines, and the use of android tablets in the data collection to ensure the quality of data that will be collected.

The PSA encourages everyone to contribute to the successful execution of the survey. The office also assures the respondents that the data which will be collected by the statistical researchers will be held strictly confidential.
