Misamis Oriental

The headline inflation of Province of Misamis Oriental has increased to 6.3 percent in August 2022, from 6.1 percent in the previous month. The inflation rate in August 2021 was lower at 3.4 percent. (Table A and Figure 1)

The increase of the province’s inflation was primarily influenced by the higher annual increase in the index for Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 8.5 percent; Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 6.5 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance at 5.7 percent; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 4.3 percent; Health at 3.4 percent; Clothing And Footwear at 3.1 percent; Personal Care, And Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 2.3 percent; Education Services at 1.8 percent; Recreation, Sport and Culture at 1.2 percent; Information And Communication at 0.7 percent; Restaurants And Accommodation Services at 0.6 percent.

Meanwhile, annual increase slowed down in the indices of Transport at 11.8 percent. The Financial Services commodity group retained it’s previous month’s inflation rate. (Table B)

Cagayan de Oro City

Similar to the trend at the provincial level, the headline inflation of Cagayan de Oro City, a highly urbanized city, decreased further to 6.5 percent in August 2022, from 6.7 percent in the previous month. The inflation rate in August 2021 was lower at 3.1 percent. (Table A and Figure 2)

The increase of the inflation was primarily influenced by the higher annual increase in the index for Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 6.7 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 6.5 percent; Restaurants And Accommodation Services at 5.3 percent; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 4.9 percent; Personal Care, And Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 4.7 percent; Health at 2.0 percent; Education Services at 0.4 percent.

However, annual increase slowed down in the indices of Transport at 16.1 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance at 5.9 percent; Clothing And Footwear at 2.9 percent; Recreation, Sport and Culture at 2.0 percent; Information And Communication at 0.1 percent; The Financial Services commodity group retained it’s previous month’s inflation rate. (Table C)
