CDO Economy Recovers in 2022 with 9.4% Growth

The economy of the City of Cagayan de Oro further expanded by 9.4 percent in 2022. Such expansion, however, is slower than the 9.6 percent growth posted in the previous year. The recorded growth in 2022 translates to a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the city valued at PhP 261.78 billion, which surpassed the 2019 pre-pandemic level of PhP 239.27 billion.

The economy of the City of Cagayan de Oro further expanded by 9.4 percent in 2022. Such expansion, however, is slower than the 9.6 percent growth posted in the previous year. The economy of Cagayan de Oro City posted a growth of 9.6 percent in 2021, a rebound from -8.8 percent decline in the previous year. In 2021, the Gross City Domestic Product (GCDP) of the City is valued at PhP 239.25 billion from the 2020 level of PhP 218.3 billion. The GCPD level in 2021 is slightly lower than the 2019 pre-pandemic level valued at PhP 239.27 billion.

The main contributors to the economy of Cagayan de Oro City were Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, Manufacturing, and Real estate and ownership of dwellings based on the 2018 to 2020 annual average share of 40.4 percent, 15.1 percent, and 7.7 percent respectively. Among the major industries, Services shared the highest three-year average share of 75.7 percent followed by Industry with 23.5 percent, and Agriculture forestry and fishing with 0.8 percent.
Misamis Oriental`s Economy Declines by 11.2% in 2020

The major contributors to the economy of Misamis Oriental were Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, Manufacturing, and Agriculture, forestry, and fishing based on 2018 to 2020 annual average share of 20.0 percent, 18.3 percent, and 13.4 percent, respectively. Among the major industries, services shared the highest three-year average share of 46.3 percent, followed by Industry at 40.3 percent.
