Rice
In the second phase of August 2024, the average retail prices of rice experienced stability except for special rice. The price of special rice slightly increase to PhP 58.67 per kilogram from PhP 58.50. Moreover, well-milled rice maintained its average retail price at PhP 52.50 per kilogram and also the price of regular milled rice maintained at PhP 47.50 per kilogram during this period. (see Figure 1)
Meat and Poultry
During the second phase of August 2024, the average retail prices of meat and poultry exhibited stability. Beef with bones remained priced at PhP 275.00 per kilogram, and pure beef meat continued to be priced at PhP 380.00 per kilogram. The price of pork kasim was unchanged at PhP 277.50 per kilogram, while pork liempo drop at PhP 356.00 per kilogram, pork meat with bones remained at PhP 250.00 per kilogram. However, dressed chicken experienced an increase in price, rising from PhP 210.00 to PhP 215.00 per kilogram. (see Figure 2) Chicken egg (medium size) remained unchanged on its average retail price at PhP 9.00 per piece. (see Figure 3)
Fish
In Misamis Occidental, the price of a kilogram of bangus remained at an average retail price of PhP 180.00 per kilogram. (see Figure 4)
Vegetables
During the second phase of August 2024, the prices of various vegetables were as follows: Ampalaya soar high at PhP 80.00 to PhP 120.00 per kilogram, and cabbage held steady at PhP 110.00 per kilogram. Carrots increased from PhP 95.00 to Php 125.00 per kilogram, while eggplants maintained at PhP 85.00 per kilogram. Baguio beans sustained their price at PhP 120.00 per kilogram, also pechay (native) maintained its price at PhP 95.00 per kilogram. String beans remained unchanged at PhP 60.00 per kilogram, tomatoes gained a slight increase at PhP 120.00 per kilogram, and white potatoes continued to rise at PhP 155.00 per kilogram. Condiments
During the second phase of August 2024, native garlic retained its average retail price at PhP 155.00 per kilogram, whereas Hawaiian ginger stabilized at an average retail price of PhP 200.00 per kilogram. (see Figure 6)
Fruits
In Misamis Occidental, the prices of fruits remained stable during the first phase of August 2024. Lakatan bananas were priced at PhP 65.00 per kilogram, Latundan bananas at
PhP 25.00 per kilogram, and papayas at PhP 47.50 per kilogram. (see Figure 7)
Other Commodities
Cooking oil increased its average retail price at PhP 169.07 per liter, brown sugar maintained its average retail price at 65.50 per kilogram, also while refined sugar remained steady at PhP 77.00 per kilogram. (see Figure 8)
