In 2021, the proportion of poor individuals in Northern Mindanao whose per capita income is not sufficient to meet their basic food and non-food needs was estimated at 26.1 percent. This translates to 1.32 million individuals in the region who lived below the poverty threshold of a family of five (5) per month at PhP 12,015.

Meanwhile, the proportion of poor individuals in the region whose income is not enough to meet even the basic food needs was recorded at 9.3 percent. This region`s subsistence incidence translates to around 472 thousand individuals in the region whose income falls short of the monthly food threshold of PhP 8,385 for a family of five.

Among families in the region, the poverty incidence for 2021 was estimated at 19.2 percent which is equivalent to around 228.2 thousand poor families. Meanwhile, food poor families was estimated at 6.2 percent or about 73.6 thousand families who cannot afford even their basic food needs.
