Bukidnon

The headline inflation or overall inflation in Bukidnon slowed down to 5.2 percent in January 2024. Inflation rate was recorded at 6.3 percent in December 2023, while it was 8.3 percent in January 2023.

The downtrend in the overall inflation in January 2024 was primarily brought about by decelerated inflation of food and non-alcoholic beverages at 8.5 percent in January 2024 from 11.5 percent in the previous month. Also contributing to the downtrend was housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels with -1.3 percent from -0.4 percent in December 2023.

Some selected food groups that contributed to the lower inflation were; vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses at -7.3 percent during the month from 16.8 percent in December 2023; sugar, confectionery and desserts at -0.9 percent from 5.7 percent; meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals at -4.8 percent from -0.1 percent and Rice at 31.8 percent from 33.0 percent.

Higher annual increments in January 2024 were observed in the following indices:

  1. Clothing and Footwear, 10.4 percent from 8.7 percent
  2. Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance, 3.0 percent from 1.2 percent
  3. Transport, 0.9 percent from -1.0 percent
  4. Information and Communication, 2.5 percent from 2.1 percent
  5. Recreation, Sport and Culture, 9.2 percent from 8.4 percent
  6. Restaurants and Accommodation Services, 2.6 percent from 2.2 percent
  7. Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 5.1 percent from 4.8 percent

Lower year-on-year mark-ups were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month: 

  1. Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, 8.5 percent from 11.5 percent
  2. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, 11.8 percent from 11.9 percent
  3. Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, -1.3 percent from -0.4
  4. Health, 4.6 percent from 5.4 percent

Constant inflation were also recorded for indices education services, 17.9 percent and financial services, 0.0 percent

Report on Inflation in Northern Mindanao for the Month of October 2024

Regional inflation increased to 2.6 percent in October 2024 from 1.6 percent in the previous month. The inflation rate in October 2023 was higher at 5.8 percent.

Northern Mindanao Regional inflation decreased to 1.6 percent in September 2024 from 4.2 percent in the previous month. The inflation rate in September 2023 was higher at 6.7 percent.

Report on Inflation in Northern Mindanao for the Month of August 2024 (2018=100)

Regional inflation decreased to 4.2 percent in August 2024 from 5.7 percent in the previous month. The inflation rate in August 2023 was higher at 5.0 percent. (Table A and Figure 1)
