Bukidnon
The headline inflation or the average rate of change of prices of goods and services in the province of Bukidnon was recorded at 5.0 percent in March 2024. In February 2024 the inflation rate was registered at 5.1 percent, and 8.5 percent in March 2023. The average inflation from January to March 2024 is at 5.1 percent.
The main sources of the downtrend of the March 2024 inflation rate are the commodity groups Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at -3.2 percent from -1.2 percent attributed by actual rentals paid by tenants for main residences; Restaurants and Accommodation Services at 0.7 percent from 2.6 percent and Health at 7.4 percent from 10.6 percent.
The primary contributor to the year-on-year inflation for March 2024 is Food and non-alcoholic beverages at 7.5 percent inflation rate with 65.5 percent share, particularly cereals and cereal products at 19.9 percent, fruits and nuts at 20.8 percent and Milk, other dairy products and eggs at 7.9 percent. The second contributor is Transport at 8.9 percent with 17.2 percent share, particularly passenger transport by road at 18.4 percent and fuels and lubricants for personal transportation at 5.3 percent. Another contributor is Furnishing, Household Equipment and routine household maintenance at 9.4 percent with 6.0 percent share, particularly domestic services and household services at 30.8 percent, Non-durable household goods at 4.2 percent and Major household appliances, whether electric or not at 9.6 percent.
Higher annual increments in March 2024 were observed in the following indices:
- Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, 7.5 percent from 6.3 percent
- Transport, 8.9 percent from 7.3 percent
Lower year-on-year mark-ups were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:
- Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, 8.4 percent from 11.0 percent
- Clothing and Footwear, 6.2 percent from 8.5 percent
- Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, -3.2 percent from -1.2 percent
- Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance, 9.4 percent from 9.7 percent
- Health, 7.4 percent from 10.6 percent
- Information and Communication, 0.3 percent from 2.4 percent
- Recreation, Sport and Culture, 9.8 percent from 10.0 percent
- Restaurants and Accommodation Services, 0.7 percent from 6 percent
- Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 3.5 percent from 5.2 percent
Constant inflation was also recorded for following indices:
- Education services, 17.9 percent
- and financial services, 0.0 percent
